El Paso

In a conversation with friends a while back, someone mentioned the old cowboy ballad, El Paso, by Marty Robbins. I remembered that song, and for some reason, I couldn’t get it out of my head. After watching Robbins perform the song on YouTube countless times, I finally broke down and bought it on iTunes.

I sang it all the time — while drying my hair, while doing laundry, while driving. Mental images related to the lyrics started forming in my head.

So when I was asked to put together an exhibition for a local gallery, I figured I might as well make good use of all these visual ideas!

The exhibition, titled The Way: Experiments in Theme & Variation (The Way is an English translation of El Paso), was quite an eclectic collection of work. Most of the pieces were based on techniques and styles that I’ve been wanting to try.

Here are the ‘experiments’ that were included in The Way. Most pieces are for sale. If you’re interested in purchasing a piece, please contact me.
